EA and Mythic Studios, the developer of Warhammer Online, announced that they are releasing an original song created by two members of Blue Oyster Cult and several members of the dev team.True to the nature of the franchise, the music of Mythic's in-house garage bank is classic heavy metal with lyrics influenced by the game.Talk about your heavy metal.Music of, around and based on games has become a thriving subculture in recent years, ranging from the orchestral music of Video Games Live to Elite Level 80 Tauren Death Knight, who have played at a variety of Blizzard events.
"We thought long and hard about how to properly tell gamers what the Dwarf Slayer is all about," said Paul Barnett, Senior Creative Director for WAR and the song's lyricist. "If this song doesn't get you fired up to shave your hair into a mohawk, dye it red, and play a Slayer, then you're probably dead!"According to the press release, Blue Oyster Cult's Eric Bloom and Richie Castellano collaborated with Mythic's Brad Derrick, Josh Drescher and senior creative director Paul Barnett to create the song, which celebrates the new "Dwarf Slayer" career that recently launched in the game.
