After being rumored to be in the works earlier this week following the discovery of an End User License Agreement for Spore on Steam's website, Electronic Arts has officially joined forces with Steam to digitally distribute a number of the company's games through Valve's storefront. 12 games from EA can now be purchase on Steam, including Spore and the Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, Warhammer Online, Mass Effect, and Need for Speed Undercover.The site is still running and offering a number of sales on EA games, such as $10 off Spore or Warhammer on purchases through December 29. They do offer more than just digital downloads, so there's no reason to believe they'll be suddenly closing up shop.

We still don't have any satisfying answer to the question we raised earlier this week: What happens now to EA's own digital distribution store?  But if EA is willing to sell its games digitally through more than their own store, might we soon see Impulse carrying EA's catalog of PC games as well?Several of the games -- including Crysis and Crysis Warhead -- were already available on Steam due to the fact that they weren't developed by EA. Some of EA's recent big releases like Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 will be added "in the coming weeks."
