Last year when Sony announced their free-to-play MMORPG, Free Realms, at E3, some folks were more than happy to see how this game would iron out.  Almost a year later, on April 29th, 2009, Free Realms launched for the PC – with the PS3 version still without an official release date –and, according to President of Sony Online Entertainment, John Smedley, up and running with 1 million registered users just 18 days after its release.

With this game generating an impressive 1 million registered users on the PC in just 18 days, we can only imagine the shit it’s going to do on the PS3. For those of you who are not familiar with Sony’s new MMO, Free Realms is a family-friendly, fantasy-themed world permeated with fairies, monsters and architecturally challenged buildings.  It follows the traditional MMO style of questing (God knows if raids are going to even be done on this) with the exception one two things – kart racing and an in-game trading card game.  Now, don’t expect for Free Realms to be anything like your more hardcore MMO’s like World of Warcraft or Warhammer Online.  It is aimed to be on a much “friendlier” scale.
