The title will arrive in Europe on June 5, while North American gamers will have to wait until June 9 to get their hands on it. The videogame is set to ship for the Xbox 360 console from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 platform from Sony and the PC, using Games for Windows.Prototype, a game created by Radical Entertainment, is set to tell the story of Alex Mercer, who joins a long line of videogame protagonists who are amnesic. But in losing his memories, Mercer has gained something else, the ability to shapeshift. Between these two factions and in the path of Alex are also civilians and the whole city. Prototype has been in development for a long time, with Sierra initially being the brand set to publish the title.
Of course, Mercer's memories are tied to a long hidden conspiracy, so the hero of the game will have to fight quite a few enemies in his quest for knowledge. On the one hand, there's the military, which is led by the Blackwatch elite squad (an obvious Warhammer 40,000 influence). On the other hand, there's the Infected that are threatening New York, turning whole city areas into no go zones. After the merger between Activision and Blizzard, the game was delayed for quite some time, but judging by the images and videos we've seen in the recent few weeks, it's been all for the better, as it looks phenomenal.
